Mobile Action Launches North American Website For Handset Manager (from North America News)
Mobile Action, the developer of Handset Manager, a leading brand of mobile management software, has launched a new Web site exclusively to give North American cellular phone users a means to purchase Handset Manager directly from the company. The new web site, http://usa.mobileaction.com, is part of Mobile Action's strategy to introduce Handset Manager for both GSM and CDMA cellular phone users in the United States and Canada.

While Mobile Action is already a market leader in Asia and Europe, the company understands that unlike other markets, cellular sales in North America are largely driven by carriers. Using a Web sales strategy allows Mobile Action to broaden its market reach and help customers easily find the version of Handset Manager with the right interface to connect their cellular handset to their PC. The company currently supports more than 500 mobile handset models worldwide.

"More than anywhere else in the world, American consumers have embraced the Web for strategic purchases," noted Michael Chen, business manager for Mobile Action. "American cellular phone users also rely extensively on their carriers to recommend which mobile handset is best suited to their needs. With our new online sales site, it will be easier for American cellular phone users to match Handset Manager to their cellular handsets, including the right handset connectors and whether they need a version to connect to their PC via USB, infrared, or Bluetooth. It is designed to eliminate guesswork."

Handset Manager allows cellular phone customers to share files and manage features on their mobile phones from their personal computer. The current release, Handset Manager v8.0, includes support for sharing of Outlook and Outlook Express address information (.csv files), calendar synchronization, a picture editor to manage cell phone pictures and wallpaper, an audio composer to create customized ring tones, an MMS composer for multimedia messages, and PC-to-cellular file sharing.

Earlier this month, Mobile Action introduced the CDMA version of Handset Manager for North American users at the Consumer Electronics Show. Handset Manager is available with a USB cable for $32.95, with an infrared connector for $43.95, and for Bluetooth wireless for $54.95.

"Mobile Action is working with distributors, retailers, and carriers, but this new direct online sales strategy will help us to bring Handset Manager to the U.S. and Canadian markets faster and more efficiently," said Fitzwilliam Yang, brand manager for Mobile Action. "It will also allow us to offer customers more solutions than they will see at a retail site so we can guide them to the right selection, and we can provide direct technical support. We see this as an ideal complement to our in-store strategy."
